As part of a documentary in progress entitled “8 Lives”, Phos Pictures tells the story of the Gorman family as they wait for a heart to save Penny’s life. Although only a short vignette, the narrative weaves it’s way from past to present – from a formerly drug addicted mother to the emotional moment in which the Gormans receive news that through one family’s loss, there is hope of a new life for theirs. With a brilliant accompanying score, Eliot Rausch and Luke Korver have done one of the few things most other filmmakers covet: taking an emotionally ripe subject and capturing it without ever cheapening their subject by playing into a cliche.
